16 Fun Fall Resources for Meaningful Math Lessons

November 1, 2020 10 min read

It’s fall, y’all! We are well into the autumn season. Halloween is behind us, Thanksgiving is fast approaching in the United States, and, next thing we know, we’ll be decking the halls for winter celebrations. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and I’ve listed below my favorite fun activities that keep kids engaged in meaningful math.

Color by Code Mystery Pictures

Who doesn’t love to color? These mystery picture activity pages are a student favorite! Each color-by-code set focuses on a specific math standard (see topics below). A full-color answer key and four unique student pages are included with each download.

Click here for more color by code activities not holiday specific.

Themed Boom Decks

Available in both addition/subtraction (Gr. K-2) and multiplication/division (Gr. 3-5).

These fall-themed Boom decks are literally NO PREP, NO FUSS! Choose from pumpkins, sunflowers, or turkeys. Students will be asked to find the missing number in any position of various equations. For younger kids working on addition and subtraction, a number line is provided as support. Boom cards are digital interactive task cards that give immediate feedback to students. Perfect for small group work, center activities, intervention periods, and early finishers.

For an added layer of fun, try Boom decks with picture reveals. As students answer the questions and select the correct response, a mystery image is slowly uncovered:

More Boom decks can be found in my store here on the blog or on TpT.

Math Crafts & Bulletin Boards

These candy corn crafts check student understanding of a specific math standard (see topics below) while making a quick and cute academic display. Included are several problem sets for class differentiation. Grading rubrics and answer keys are included for teacher use. What’s not to fall in love with?!

Brain Bender Puzzles

These FREE puzzles are great for mathematical reasoning and building logic skills. You’ll receive a total of 8 cards with three equations each by joining the L3TP community. Fun, fall graphics are substituted for numbers, introducing algebraic thinking. Use whole class as a bellringer warm-up or challenge of the week. You’ll get instant access to 4 now with a valid email address and 4 later once you’ve confirmed your subscription.

4 now, 4 later;

    Hello Aaren, thanks for the comment. May I ask which picture/copyright issue you are referring to? I purchase photography credits and stock photos for my product mockups and credit the authors within the purchased product resource so I am most curious as to which one it is you’re referencing. Thanks again for your attention to detail and bringing it to my attention! Most appreciated. –Crystal
