Last year’s blog post on the 100th day of school got so much love and feedback. I’m excited to share 20 more fun-filled activities for the momentous occasion! Here in the northern United States, the 100th day of school typically falls sometime in February. (Southern states are usually a few weeks ahead.) In this year’s blog post, I’ll share even more ways to celebrate the 100th day of school with your classes. Should we get right to it?

1. Have a “100 seconds of dance” party
Give the 100th day of school the celebration it deserves! Play music and have a dance party with your students. Pressed for time? Make it short and sweet with just 100 seconds!
2. Create a bulletin board display
Here are some 100th day of school bulletin board ideas to get the creative juices flowing:
3. Have a “100 minutes of reading” challenge
Remember D.E.A.R. (drop everything and read) time? Set aside a few minutes daily the week of your 100th day for students to snuggle up in a good book! If 100 minutes is too much for your students, try 100 seconds of reading. Readers are leaders! Every little bit of reading time helps build stamina. 4. Catch students doing 100 acts of good!
The 100th day of school typically falls in February. Channel all the Valentine’s Day and Kindness Week vibes with this “caught doing good” challenge! Give students a raffle ticket for demonstrating positive behavior. Record their good deeds on a running class log, encouraging them to reach 100.
5. Create a 100 square class quilt
Perfect as a collaborative bulletin board, provide each student with a square to decorate for your 100th day quilt. Let students draw symbols representing their unique interests. Don’t have 100 students on the roster for the display? Use the remaining squares to record favorite class memories, lessons taught, and end of year goals.
6. Do a “100 happy moments” journaling activity
Remember all the fun had in the last 100 days! Students can write about their favorite memories to create a class collective. You can also have kids quick write their happy moments in list format.
7. Make a 100th day timeline
After recalling their favorite feel-good moments of the year, create a class timeline of important events that have happened in the past 100 days. Don’t let it stop there! Extend the timeline and record memorable events through the remaining days of school.
8. Have a 100th day physical fitness competition
Your class is 100 days stronger! Celebrate with a little friendly fitness challenge. Encourage students to participate in a 100-lap run/walk around the playground or gym. Other physical activity challenge ideas could be:
- Do 100 sit ups or push ups
- Do an arm hang or pull ups for 100 seconds
- Sprint 100 feet
- Do a handstand or try yoga for 100 seconds
9. Have a spelling bee
Compile a list of 100 words students should know how to spell for the year. See what all the buzz is about with a little competition. Conduct a spelling bee to name a grade-wide champion speller.
10. Create a themed word search or crossword
Create a word search with words related to the 100th day of school or the number 100. There are plenty of free websites to assist!
11. Build a 100-piece puzzle
Set a timer and challenge students to complete 100-piece puzzles in table groups. Warning: my upper elementary classes get super competitive… and loud!
12. Have a “100 words of encouragement” wall
It’s cool to be kind! Work with students to write 100 encouraging notes for others. Hang in the hallway to brighten someone’s day.
13. Create a skit, song, or dance for the 100th day
Let the creative sparks fly with artistic expression! Create a short play recapping the last 100 days of school. Make a class rap about the number 100. Choreograph a 100th day line dance. Students can work independently, in pairs, or in small groups.
14. Complete a compliments chain
Have students write compliments for everyone in the class on strips of colored paper. Don’t forget to include the teacher! Can you come up with a collective 100 compliments? Glue or staple the paper’s edges to create a class chain of compliments.
15. Create a class recipe book of 100 favorite recipes
A class cookbook is a fun way to celebrate 100 days of school and also celebrate your students’ cultural diversity! Students can even prepare a sample for others to try on the 100th day of school.
16. Host a quiz bowl or school trivia night
100 days of school = 100 days of learning! Students can show what they know in Jeopardy! style games. I love BrainQuest card packs for quick trivia. Divide your students into groups and quiz them on material covered thus far in the year.
17. Design a 100th day shirt
Have students decorate a t-shirt to commemorate the day. I’ve seen students glue 100 objects (stickers, fuzzies, pom poms, erasers, etc.) on their shirt. Older students might enjoy more artistic freedom with fabric paints, iron-on appliques, and other craft supplies.
18. Take a “100 steps” walk or hike
At this point in the year, I bet your students are dying for a little fresh air. Taking a 100 step walk around the school might be the exact brain break you all need! Physical activity helps break up the school day and provides busy bodies an energy outlet.
19. Give each student “100 seconds of fame”
Everyone’s a star on the 100th day! Celebrate your classes. Have each student share something they’re super proud of followed by “100 seconds of applause” for each student.
20. Have a “100 days of hard work” celebration
Work hard, play harder! You and your students deserve to be rewarded after all the time and effort expended the last 100 days. Celebrate with a movie and popcorn party or class-decided reward.
