Last Year’s Prayers = This Year’s Miracles
If you remember last year’s blessings blog post, I announced my pregnancy. This past May, our family grew by two tiny feet when we finally welcomed our baby boy, Gem*, into the world. His arrival wasnโt just the highlight of our summerโit was the miracle weโd been praying for well over the course of a year. Every coo, every smile, and even those middle-of-the-night feedings remind me just how precious life truly is. Gem’s nursery may be Harry Potter-themed (you can see a bit of the Hogwarts mural in the photo below!), but his very being is the real magic that has bewitched our hearts. โก Our family is trying to capture every fleeting moment, wishing there was a way to pause and rewind time! ๐ I mean, where did this two-week-old little potato go?!
The days are long, but the years are oh so short. While I don’t possess Hermione’s magic time turner, I have been gifted time with my son. I feel equally blessed to be fully present for every single moment of Gem’s first year. Taking an extended maternity leave and staying home until next school year (September 2025) has been a decision that fills me with immense gratitude. Watching my sweet son grow, meeting milestones, and discovering the world around him with me as his first teacher is a gift Iโll cherish forever!
To celebrate, our family recently completed a magical adventureโGemโs very first flight! We traveled from New Jersey down to Sarasota, Florida, for a visit with his Nonnie and Poppa Joe. While I may have been slightly nervous (okay, real talk and super stressed!) about flying with a six-month-old, Gem handled the trip like a champ. The memories we made having fun in the sun live rent free in my mind. Life is good!
