Step aside, apples and pumpkins. The time has come for black cats and flying bats!
Happy Autumn… itโs officially fall, yโall. I’ve waited as long as I could to post about THE best season and holiday ever: Halloween! This time of year is my absolute favorite. Everyone has found their back-to-school groove. Educators are in the zone teaching and students are in the zone learning. Let’s have fun with it!
Whip out these Halloween math activities and treat your classes to a “feel ghoul” time:

Snip a Pic Secret Picture Tile Worksheets
Do your students love coloring? Looking for something a bit more involved? Let me introduce you to my latest product line: snip a pic! These secret picture tiles will eventually create a Halloween scene. Students must first solve the problems before they cut and paste. Each tile has the answer to one of the problems; that’s how they know where to glue! Once dry, kids can color the image. These printables can definitely take a decent amount of class time. They are a permanent math center activity in my room because of how involved they are (and how engaged aka quiet students get)!
Spooky Themed Task Cards
I love the versatility of a good task card set! Still, students big and small enjoy seeing Frankenstein’s face when multiplying fractions or counting witch’s warts to determine if a number is even or odd. These cards are printable and self-checking thanks to QR codes on the flipside. Send students on a scavenger hunt by posting cards around the room all month long!
Not into QR codes? No problem! I’ve recently started creating poke cards. With a little bit of prep on your end, students can then take a straw or pencil to “poke” their answer choice. On the backside of each card, kids can look for the sticker above the correct response! You’ve got several sets to choose from:
- Counting Sets of Objects 0 to 10 Math Poke Cards Halloween Bundle
- Find the Unknown Number: Add&Subtract to 20 QR Math Task Cards
If any amount of task card prepwork is too much this season, utilize technology. All of my Halloween Boom decks are literally NO PREP, NO FUSS! Teachers only need to add to their library and assign to students. That’s it! NO printing, NO cutting, NO laminating. Boom cards are digital, interactive task cards that provide immediate feedback to students. Many include audio directions so even nonreaders can go at their own pace. Perfect for small group work, center activities, intervention periods, and early finishers.
- Find the Unknown Number: Addition & Subtraction Pumpkins
- Addition within 20 Counting On Halloween Boom Cardsโข BUNDLE
More Boom decks can be found in my store here on the blog or on TpT.
