Begin your adventure in the iconic Great Hall, the heart of Hogwarts. Standing beneath the enchanted ceiling and long house tables, you’ll immediately recognize scenes from the films. It’s the perfect photo op to start your magical day!

Wander the cobbled streets of Diagon Alley, complete with shopfronts like Ollivanders, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, and Flourish & Blotts. This life-size set is even bigger and more immersive than the one at Universal Studios! The attention to detail is astonishing, making you feel as if you’re truly wandering through the wizarding world.
🚂 Platform 9¾ & the Hogwarts Express
Get ready to board the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9¾. You’ll find the disappearing trolley, vintage luggage, and recreated train compartments filled with magical Easter eggs. The platform reminded me of the cue between Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure. That’s as far as the similarity goes, though. There’s even a souvenir shop tucked into the platform!
🌲 The Forbidden Forest & Creature Effects
Enter the shadowy Forbidden Forest, home to Buckbeak, Aragog, and other magical creatures. Then, head to the Creature Shop to see how these beasts were brought to life with puppetry, animatronics, and special effects.

Arriving early helps you beat the crowds and soak in more details. Since we took a pre-booked coach, our visit started at 1:00 PM, and we returned around 8:00 PM. We still felt rushed after 5+ hours!
📸 Bring a Camera
Photography is allowed throughout the tour, and trust me—you’ll want to capture everything. I took over 1,000 pictures (no regrets!). Bring extra memory and maybe a portable charger, too.
🧁 Don’t Skip the Butterbeer
Grab a cold Butterbeer at the Backlot Café, ideally while staring at Privet Drive or The Burrow. The taste is familiar if you’ve been to Universal Studios, but sipping it in the actual movie sets is a whole new vibe.

I mean, it all is necessary, but this life scale rendition is even bigger and better than the Universal Studios Wizarding World of Harry Potter set. Peek into the shop windows of Ollivanders, Flourish & Blotts, and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. The attention to detail is astonishing, making you feel as if you’re truly wandering through the wizarding world.
- Platform 9¾ and Hogwarts Express – This was cool! Get ready to board the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9¾, complete with a luggage trolley disappearing through the wall. The platform reminded me of the cue between Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure. That’s as far as the similarity goes, though. Once on the Hogwarts Express platform, you’ll find a souvenir shop and magical ride! Step onto the train and explore the iconic compartments, each filled with surprises and nods to the films.
- Forbidden Forest and Creature Shop – Dare to venture into the Forbidden Forest, where you’ll encounter the majestic Buckbeak and the fearsome larger-than-life Aragog. Visit the Creature Shop to discover the magic behind the creation of these fantastic beasts and more.
- Hogwarts Castle Model – An iconic sight to see, the Hogwarts Castle model will conclude your studio lot tour for good reason. Prepare to be awestruck by the breathtaking Hogwarts Castle model, used for sweeping aerial shots in the films. The level of detail is mind-boggling! You’ll gain a newfound appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into its creation.

Now that you know all the fun there is to have through the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour, let’s talk logistics. The pricing for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour varies depending on the time of year and whether you’re an adult, child, or family. While it’s an investment, I can assure you that the experience is worth every galleon! And don’t forget to grab your Stamp Passport upon arrival – it’s a delightful keepsake that you fill with stamps at various points throughout the tour.
Helpful Tips for Your Visit
- Book in Advance – Tickets often sell out quickly, so it’s advisable to book well in advance to secure your preferred date and time slot. We reserved our spot about 2 months in advance with Viator. Be advised the Warner Bros. Studio is located outside of London, so you’ll require transportation. Booking with Viator worked well for our travel plans because it included studio admission and roundtrip transportation from central London.
- Arrive Early – Arriving early allows you to explore at a more leisurely pace before the crowds arrive. Because we booked roundtrip coach bus tickets, we were at the mercy of the transportation company. Even so, I felt we had a decent amount of time. We left central London 1pm and returned home around 8pm.
- Camera Ready – Bring your camera or smartphone to capture all the enchanting moments! Photography is allowed throughout the tour. I took well over 1000 pictures. (I wish I were exaggerating!) There’s so much to see and do! The props, sets, scenes, and overall atmosphere are definitely photograph worthy.
- Butterbeer Break – Don’t miss the chance to savor a frothy Butterbeer at the Backlot Café. It’s a sweet, delightful treat that’s straight out of the wizarding world. If you’ve been to Universal Studios Orlando or the Harry Potter New York store in the United States, the taste will be no different. It is, however, a whole different vibe sipping Butterbeer while perusing the Dursley residence on Privet Drive or with The Burrow (home of the Weasleys) in the background!
- Allow Plenty of Time – The average visit lasts about 3 to 4 hours, but be forewarned: if you’re a true Potterhead, you might want to spend even longer to soak in all the details. All in all, we spent a little more than 5 hours there and still felt rushed! The studio is that massive and that jam-packed with authentic memorabilia to oooh and aaaah over.
