A Magical Day at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia

April 10, 2025 3 min read No Comments

If you’re looking for an incredible, hands-on experience for little ones in Philadelphia, the Please Touch Museum is an absolute must-visit! We took our son, Gem*, for a day of exploration at 9 months old, and it was nothing short of fantastic.

Getting There and Admission

One of the best surprises? Our Monmouth County Library System has multiple museum memberships that patrons can check out just like a library bookโ€”meaning we got in for free! If youโ€™re in the Philadelphia area, I highly recommend checking whether your local library offers a similar perk. The museum was an easy drive from Central New Jersey, making the trip super convenient for a fun little day date! Typically, museum entrance is $22 per person, parking in the gated lot is $16, and unlimited carousel rides are $5 per child (one caregiver per child rides free). We got all of that FREE with our library card; it set us up for an incredible day!

Exhibits We Loved

The Please Touch Museum is designed for little hands and big imaginations. Even though Gem was on the younger side for his first visit, there was still so much for him to enjoy… after all, we’re in our touchy era! His absolute favorite exhibits included:

  • Soft Play Toddler Zones โ€“ These sections of the museum are perfect for crawlers like Gem! He had a blast exploring, climbing, and interacting with the soft structures designed just for little ones. The museum has a few of these soft play areas scattered across the multiple floors of exhibits.
  • Rubber Duck River Adventuresโ€“ Watching rubber ducks float along the waterways was mesmerizing for our son. He splashed, giggled, and enjoyed every second of it! The museum even provides waterproof smocks and toddler stools so all littles can splash, regardless of attire or height.
  • Theย Carousel House โ€“ This was a big first for us! We took Gem on his very first up-and-down carousel ride; he had previously ridden on a stationary bench at Sesame Place. His wide-eyed wonder made it a memory weโ€™ll cherish forever.

Why Please Touch Is Worth the Visit

The Please Touch Museum truly lives up to its name, offering a space where kids are encouraged to play, explore, and, wellโ€ฆ touch everything! Itโ€™s the perfect place to foster curiosity and creativity, all while having tons of fun.

If you have a baby or toddler, donโ€™t hesitate to goโ€”there are plenty of age-appropriate activities, and itโ€™s never too early to introduce little ones to the joy of hands-on learning!

Final Thoughts

Weโ€™ll definitely be back! I’m also happy to report that we did not get sick. They must do a pretty great job of sanitizing everything. (There were also hand-sanitizer stations and washrooms readily available.) We truly had the most magical experience!

ACTIONABLE STEPS: If youโ€™re planning a trip to Philly or live nearby, put the Please Touch Museum at the top of your list. And donโ€™t forget to check your local library for that free membershipโ€”it made our visit even sweeter!
