April 13, 2025 4 min read No Comments

Hey, teacher besties! If you love finding amazing teaching resources at a discount, then you need to know all about hashtag sales on Teachers Pay Teachers! These sales are a fantastic way to grab engaging activities, lesson plans, and seasonal resources at unbeatable prices.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about or get overwhelmed trying to navigate them, you might be missing out on some great deals. Letโ€™s break down how hashtag sales work and how you can make the most of TpTโ€™s search filters to find exactly what you need.

๐ŸŒˆ BONUS: At the bottom of this post, you’ll find an active hashtag sale! Just look for the rainbows. ๐ŸŒˆ

First Things First: What’s a Hashtag Sale?

Hashtag sales are special, short-term sales where TpT sellers discount select resourcesโ€”often as low as $1 each! These sales are usually organized around a specific theme, time of year, or type of resource. Youโ€™ll find them promoted by a closed group of specific sellers on social media with a unique hashtag (e.g., #DollarDeals, #MarchMathMadness, or #SpringIntoLearning). By searching for the hashtag on TpT, you can quickly see all the participating sellers and their qualifying resources.

How Hashtag Sales Differ from Sitewide Sales

Itโ€™s important to understand the difference between hashtag sales and sitewide sales on TpT so you can maximize your savings.

  • Seller-Run vs. TpT-Run: Hashtag sales are organized by individual sellers or small groups of sellers, while sitewide sales are officially run by TpT itself.
  • Discount Amounts: In hashtag sales, sellers set their own discounts, often offering resources for as little as $1 each. Sitewide sales usually offer a percentage off the entire store (often up to 25%) with an additional discount when using a promo code provided by TpT. For hashtag sales, there are no promo codes. Sellers will have qualifying resources marked down to their bottom line sale price.
  • Duration: Hashtag sales are often short-lived, lasting a single day or weekend, whereas sitewide sales typically run for two consecutive days. If you’re not connected to your favorite TpT sellers via their email lists or social media, you may miss out on a hashtag sale opportunity!
  • Selection of Resources: Not every resource is included in a hashtag saleโ€”only those chosen by the sellers. In a sitewide sale, every item in participating stores is discounted. Hashtag sales therefore include a much smaller product pool than sitewide sales.

Knowing these differences can help you plan your purchases strategically and take advantage of both types of sales when they happen!

How to Search for Hashtag Sales on TpT

Since TpT doesnโ€™t have a dedicated website area for hashtag sales, youโ€™ll need to do a bit of searching. Hereโ€™s how to find the best deals:

  1. Use the Search Bar: Enter the sale hashtag (e.g., #Touchdown2025) in the TpT search bar. This will pull up resources that sellers have tagged in their product descriptions. You must include the hashtag/pound symbol (#) in the search or you might not get the full list of eligible products!
  2. Filter by Grade Level: On the left-hand side of the search results page, you can select specific grade levels to find resources that match your classroom needs.
  3. Filter by Resource Type: Looking for task cards? Interactive notebooks? Color-by-code printables? Use the โ€œResource Typeโ€ filter to narrow your search.
  4. Filter by Subject Area: If youโ€™re a content-specific teacher with a focus on math, literacy, or science, selecting that subject filter will help you quickly locate relevant deals.
  5. Sort by Price: Want to see the biggest bargains first? Use the โ€œSort Byโ€ dropdown to list items from lowest to highest price.

Pro Tips for Scoring the Best Deals

  • Follow Your Favorite Sellers: Many sellers participate in hashtag sales regularly. By following them on TpT, youโ€™ll get notifications when they upload new resources or announce sales. Most sellers have an email list; I highly encourage you to subscribe for VIP-you-heard-it-here-first announcements!
  • Check Social Media: Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest are hotspots for sellers promoting hashtag sales. Searching for the sale hashtag on these platforms can lead you directly to the best discounts and product highlights.
  • Plan Ahead for Seasonal Resources: If you see a great deal on a holiday or seasonal resource, grab it while itโ€™s cheap! Even if you donโ€™t need it immediately, youโ€™ll have it ready for the following year.
  • Stock Up on Test Prep and Review Activities: Hashtag sales are a great time to grab engaging review activities before state testing season!
