Okay, mama, if you have a little one and a Disney trip anywhere on your radar right now, pull up a chair for this one.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER is running at Walt Disney World through September 8, 2026. It is the most little-kid-forward thing Disney has put together in years. A free water park day. Pool parties hosted by cast members. Pajama parties with story time. Bluey and Bingo. Bottle warmers and infant bathtubs waiting in your room so you can leave half your suitcase at home.

And here’s the thing: most families I talk to have no idea that half of this exists, because it isn’t a hard-ticket event and it doesn’t show up as a big flashing banner in My Disney Experience. It’s just quietly happening around you. Let me filter through the noise and show you what it actually is, which resorts get the extra magic, and how I’d build a trip around it before the season wraps!

What Cool KIDS’ SUMMER Actually Is

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER is Disney’s seasonal celebration built specifically around families with young children. It debuted in 2025 and it came back bigger in 2026 with more characters, more shows, and more perks at the resorts.

The most important thing to understand: this is NOT a separately ticketed party like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. There is no extra wristband, no separate purchase, no sold-out dates to stress over. If you have park tickets, you get the park experiences. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you get the resort perks. That’s it.

PRO TIP: Because it isn’t ticketed, most of these experiences aren’t heavily advertised in the app. If you don’t know to look for GoofyCore or Jessie’s Roundup, you’ll walk right past them. Screenshot the list below and keep it in your notes app!

The season runs daily from May 26 through September 8, 2026, and a few of the new additions (Bluey and Bingo, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!) are sticking around past that date.

The Four Resorts Where the Extra Magic Lives

Some Cool KIDS’ SUMMER perks apply to every Disney Resort hotel guest. But four resorts get an extra layer of programming this summer, and honestly, the resort choice matters more this season than it usually does!

Disney’s Pop Century Resort (Value)

Giant yo-yos, oversized Rubik’s Cubes, and a walk through decades of American pop culture. Skyliner access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, which is a gift when you’re traveling with a stroller and a tired toddler.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (Value)

Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid brought to life in courtyards your kids will lose their minds over. This is also where the family suites live, which sleep six and include a kitchenette. Skyliner access here, too!

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (Moderate)

White-sand beaches, hammocks under palm trees, and Barefoot Bay. It’s the Skyliner hub, so you’re one hop from Pop and Art of Animation. Sebastian’s Bistro here is a genuinely good sit-down dinner that doesn’t require a park day.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside (Moderate)

New to the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER lineup in 2026, POR is replacing Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Oak trees along the Sassagoula River, catch-and-release fishing, surrey bike rentals, a one-mile jogging trail, and the boat to Disney Springs right from your resort.

WORTH NOTING: Disney intentionally swapped a Deluxe resort out of this lineup for a Moderate. That leaves you with two Value resorts and two Moderates, which means the extra programming is sitting at the price points most families are actually booking. I don’t think that was an accident!

Your Free Water Park Day (This One Is the Big One!)

Every guest staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel with an arrival date between May 26 and September 8, 2026, gets complimentary admission to one Disney water park on check-in day. Not just the four Cool KIDS’ SUMMER resorts. Every Disney Resort hotel.

You pick either Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon or Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Both are open this season, which doesn’t always happen.

Think about how check-in day usually goes. You land, you can’t get into your room yet, you’re burning a park day you didn’t really want to burn, and everyone’s cranky by 2 p.m. This perk turns that dead space into one of the best days of the trip!

PRO TIP: Pack your swimsuits in your carry-on, not your checked bag. Drop your luggage with Bell Services, change, and head straight to the water park. Your room text will come through while your kids are on the lazy river. Admission is subject to availability, so this works best on a weekday arrival.

What Happens Around the Resort All Day Long

This is the part that surprises people. At those four resorts, the day is genuinely programmed for little kids from the moment you walk in the lobby.

• A surprise at check-in. Stop by the Front Desk at check-in and each of your littles gets a Cool KIDS’ SUMMER surprise. You have to ask, so ask!
• Characters in the lobby. Mickey, Minnie, and friends make scheduled appearances in the resort lobbies. No park ticket required.
• Pool parties. Daily poolside celebrations hosted by Disney recreation cast members, with interactive games and music.
• A reading nook. A lobby library from Disney Publishing with Disney Princess, Super Hero, and classic storybooks. Perfect for the 1 p.m. meltdown window.

• Pajama parties. On select nights, cast members lead story time and a create-your-own-bedtime-story activity, and a character sometimes drops in. If you only do one thing on this list, make it this one!
• Campfires and lawn games. S’mores, sing-alongs, Movies Under the Stars, cornhole, Giant Connect 4, and cast-led trivia.
• Kids-only pin trading. Merchandise cast members are surprising little ones with special pins from boards set aside just for kids.
• Dining assistants. At select quick-service spots during breakfast and dinner, dining assistants track down highchairs, utensils, and condiments so you’re not juggling a tray and a toddler.

THIS CHANGES YOUR PACKING LIST: Those four resorts are stocking bottle warmers, infant bathtubs, diaper disposals, and nightlights, complimentary during your stay. If you’re flying with a baby, that’s a whole checked bag you don’t have to pay for! Call and confirm availability before you leave the gear at home.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER in the Parks

Every park got something new this summer. Most of it is indoors and air-conditioned, which in Florida in August is not a small detail.

Magic Kingdom: Jessie’s Roundup: A Rip-Roarin’ Revue!

Jessie, Woody, Bullseye, and the Toy Story crew take over The Diamond Horseshoe with songs, dancing, games, and yodeling. Presented by Babybel. Indoor, seated, and a perfect midday reset.

EPCOT: GoofyCore at CommuniCore Hall

Goofy, the Goof Troop, and DJ Dance Pants running a full-on dance party with silly games like Goofy Says, Balloon Bonanza, and Parachutes ‘n’ Pipsqueaks. My favorite thing about this one is that CommuniCore Hall is huge and cool and rarely crowded.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! and the Disney Jr. Zone

A brand-new show inspired by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+, where Mickey and Minnie take the audience on an adventure to find Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto. Original songs, lots of interaction, and loads of dancing. Then head to the Disney Jr. Zone to meet Sofia the First or Bitsy from SuperKitties with bubbles in the air!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Bluey’s Wild World at Conservation Station

If you have a Bluey household, this alone is worth the park day. Hop the Wildlife Express Train to what used to be Rafiki’s Planet Watch and you’ll find dance parties, games pulled straight from Bluey episodes, photos with Bluey and Bingo, and Australian animals at Jumping Junction. And ICYMI: Disney has said Bluey and Bingo are staying past the summer!

All Four Parks: Early Theme Park Entry Characters

Disney Resort hotel guests get 30 minutes of early entry every day. This summer, that window includes character appearances in all four parks. There are different characters at different parks, so be sure to spread your early mornings around!

PRO TIP: Early entry is THE single most underrated perk of staying on property, summer programming or not. If you’ve never done it with a toddler, walking into an empty Fantasyland at 8:30 a.m. is a completely different Disney than the one you get at noon. 10/10 recommend!

Water Parks and Disney Springs After Dark

• Characters at both water parks. Stitch is causing his usual chaos at Typhoon Lagoon, and Goofy is in full beach mode at Blizzard Beach. Both parks also have games and dance parties running all summer.
• Disney H2O Glow After Hours. This is a separately ticketed after-dark party at Typhoon Lagoon on select nights, June 2 through September 5. You’ll get rare characters like Powerline Max and the Rescue Rangers!
• DescenDANCE Party x Camp Rock Jam. Tuesday through Thursday nights, 6 to 10 p.m. at the Marketplace. A DJ spinning Descendants and Camp Rock hits. This is a great, low-key, FREE evening on a non-park day.

Ways to Save Right Now

These are live as I’m writing this, and they stack nicely with everything above!

• Resort room discount. Save up to 30% on rooms at select Disney Resorts Collection hotels when you stay five nights or more, for arrivals most nights July 30 through October 3, 2026.
• Florida Residents. Save up to 35% on rooms with a four-night minimum in that same arrival window.
• Annual Passholders. Save up to 40% on rooms with a four-night minimum in that same window.
• 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket. Starting at $109 per day plus tax ($436 plus tax total) for one park per day. Valid for visits between May 26 and October 3, 2026. Must be used within seven days of first use.

HEADS UP: The free dining plan offer that was floating around earlier this year had a booking deadline that has already passed. If you saw it on social and got excited, that ship has sailed. Sorry, friends! The room discounts above are the ones still standing.

How I’d Actually Build a Cool KIDS’ SUMMER Check-In Day

Here’s the day I’d plan for a family with a four-year-old and a baby under 2, arriving on a Tuesday at Port Orleans Riverside.

1. Land in Orlando mid-morning. Swimsuits are already on under the clothes, because you are not unpacking a suitcase in an airport bathroom.
2. Get to the resort, drop bags with Bell Services, and stop at the Front Desk for the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER surprises. Ask about the baby gear while you’re standing there!
3. Head to Typhoon Lagoon on your complimentary check-in day admission. Do Ketchakiddee Creek and the lazy river, skip the big slides, and leave by 3 p.m. before the afternoon storms roll in.
4. Back to the resort. Your room is ready. Everyone showers, everyone rests, nobody is at a park being miserable in 95-degree heat.
5. Early dinner at the resort food court, where a dining assistant grabs you a highchair without being asked.
6. Cool KIDS’ SUMMER pajama party. Story time, create your own bedtime story, and maybe a surprise character walks in.
7. Kids are easily asleep by 8:30 (wishful thinking). You are on the balcony with a Dole Whip you smuggled back. Day one was full of fun… and you haven’t even entered a park yet!

PRO TIP: That last part is the actual strategy. When the resort is this well programmed, a resort day stops being a wasted day. Build one in mid-trip and watch how much better everyone handles the park days on either side of it!

My Honest Take on Summer at Disney

I’m not going to sit here and tell you August in Florida is comfortable. It’s hot. It’s humid. Storms roll in most afternoons like clockwork. Crowds are real, especially through the middle of the month before schools go back.

But here’s what Cool KIDS’ SUMMER actually fixes: it gives you somewhere to be during the ugly parts of the day. Air-conditioned shows at every park. A pool party at 2 p.m. A library in the lobby. A free water park day on the day you’d otherwise waste. It turns the parts of a summer trip that usually break families into the parts they remember!

ACTIONABLE STEPS: If your kids are under eight, this is a season worth planning around rather than avoiding. Just go in with realistic expectations about the heat, plan a midday break every single day, and don’t try to visit a park from open to close. Nobody wins that game in August!

Will Cool KIDS’ SUMMER Be Back in 2027?

Nothing official yet. But it debuted in 2025, came back bigger in 2026, and Disney is keeping several of the new additions (Bluey’s Wild World, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!) running past September. That’s not the pattern of something they’re planning to shelve anytime soon in my opinion.

If you’re eyeing summer 2027, this is the point where I’d tell you to start watching. Summer packages tend to open the winter before, and the best rooms at the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER resorts (especially the Art of Animation family suites) go fast once discounts drop!
