Need help getting started with Flocabulary? Flocabulary is an online learning program that uses educational hip-hop musicย to engage students and increase academic achievement across the curriculum.
Whether you are looking to assign students a basic review lesson or plan a fully integrated lesson, the Flocabulary platform is flexible enough to use as little or as much as you’d like. The online collection of songs, videos, and activities are relatable and fun enough to provide K-12 students with unique learning opportunities without feeling too routine.
The more you integrate Flocabulary into your curriculum, the more you’ll see an impact on your students. Whether you’re just getting started or already a pro, learn how to get the most from using Flocab in your classroom with the guide below!
Logging into Flocabulary
To get started, try Flocab’s Lite Plan free for 30 days. If your school pays for a subscription, sign up is easy! You can log in with a username/password, Google, or Microsoft Office 365. My building is a Microsoft school so my log in steps are as follows:
- Go to ClassLink.
- Click on the Flocabulary tile in the ClassLink portal.
- Select the SCHOOL that you teach at to continue and create your account/sign in.
Creating Classes in Flocabulary
- From the Flocabulary homepage, click on “My Classes” at the top of the page and
then click the blue “Create a Class” button. - Give the class a name, grade level, and subject. Keep in mind your students will see the class name when they sign up.
- Click “Create a New Class” to finish.
- A Class Code will be generated. NOTE: You must create a Class Code for all of your classes.
Student Access to Flocabulary
Your students can join you by visiting www.flocabulary.com/join-class and entering the class code. You can also invite your students via email by selecting contacts from Gmail, Office 365, or entering individual addresses. Again, my classes use ClassLink and so access looks like this:
- Students click the Flocabulary tile in their ClassLink portals.
- Student accounts will be automatically created and logged in.
- Students will then be prompted to join a class by entering a Class Code.
To join additional classes, or if a student is already in a Flocab class, students can (1) hover over their name on the top right corner, (2) click My Classes, and then (3) select Join Class at the top to enter another code.
